Stereoscopic 3D is a technique used in most movie theaters today. Stereoscopic 3D uses two 2D images offset,overlapping one another.I think of it much like your eyes. Each eye sees a different perspective. The brain interperates these images and combine them into one.
In most cases you need to wear a special kind of viewing glasses to filter out one side of the the stereo-gram. Polorized 3D glasses are commonly used
in 3D movie theaters today.
